A significant transformation has taken place in Endwell as six abandoned buildings near the intersection of East Main and North streets have been demolished. The dilapidated structures, which created a "blight zone" in the heart of the community, have been removed, marking the beginning of a major redevelopment effort.

Demolition crews from LCP Group of Vestal completed the process, starting with a former service station on the west side of the site. Among the buildings demolished was a burnt-out laundromat at the corner of East Main Street and Scarborough Drive, which had been an eyesore since an arson fire ravaged it 35 years ago in June 1988.
The demolition of four additional buildings along Scarborough Drive has also been completed.

Broome County businessman Tim Connolly, who acquired several properties in the area about 18 months ago, is leading the redevelopment effort. Connolly has already moved the offices for his business, First General of Southern New York, into one of the buildings he purchased, which will remain intact for now.

Connolly expressed optimism about the site's future, highlighting the progress made in the redevelopment project. With the demolition work now completed, the community eagerly anticipates the new opportunities this redevelopment will bring to Endwell.
