Demolition of Fire-Damaged Apalachin Recycling Plant Begins

The demolition of the fire-damaged Taylor Garbage Service recycling plant on Route 434 in Apalachin has begun. Crews from LCP Group of Vestal started removing the wreckage left by the blaze that erupted on January 3.

Despite the extensive damage, no serious injuries were reported. Taylor Garbage Service plans to construct a new facility at their site in Owego, with construction expected to commence in about two months.
